The Heygate Vernon Range, to give it it’s formal title, is a brick building under a tiled roof owned under lease by the Club Trustees. Members know the location as the Chapel Gate range. The building is on the Bournemouth University, Chapel Gate Campus located between Hurn and Parley Cross on the B3073.
The building is named in honour of founding club member Vernon Heygate. It was constructed on behalf of the club by a local building company and was officially opened in 1927 Learn more of the Club’s journey to this site on our history page.
The range complex is heated and comprises clubroom, toilets and a six lane 25 yard range. Five of the six lanes each boast a individually controlled target retrieval system designed for use by the bench and standing disciplines. Prone shooters still have to put in the legwork to change targets!
The range is fully lit by an array of fluorescent, halogen and LED lighting installations.
The premises are protected by an intruder alarm system and CCTV.
